News & Events Wine class fundraiser pours donations into endowment fund

Columbia Gorge Community College (CGCC) Foundation kicked off its annual Gorge Gatherings series last Friday, Feb. 28, with the French Wine Exploration, held at the White Buffalo Wine Bar & Bistro in Hood River.

Mary Gumm, White Buffalo co-owner and CGCC Foundation board member, led a wine class that evening. Gumm’s knowledge of wine was shared with guests as five wines were paired with each course of a delicious meal. The ambiance of White Buffalo, coupled with unique wine and food, made the room hum with laughter and conversation.

This gathering was the first of three in this year’s series. Proceeds from this series of food and friend events benefit the CGCC Foundation permanent endowment fund. The U.S. Department of Education will match up to $200,000 of contributions made to the CGCC Foundation permanent endowment fund between October 1, 2010, and September 30, 2015, providing series participants the opportunity to double the impact of their gifts made to the foundation.

(GATHERING CANCELED) The next gathering is the Kentucky Derby Party hosted at The Riverenza Café and Gathering Hall in The Dalles on Saturday, May 3, at 2 p.m. The Derby Party features Southern fare and drinks. A special part of this gathering will be the hat contest, complete with prizes for most beautiful hat. The cost to attend this gathering is $75 per person. (CANCELED)
