About Us: CGCC Alumni and Friends Association

Association Member Responsibilities

Local chapters of the CGCC Alumni and Friends Association are available in every community our college serves throughout the Mid-Columbia, and they help in several ways. Association members can help the college through activities such as:

  • Identifying student success stories and working with college staff to highlight these individuals in publications
  • Work with key people (instructors, counselors, and mentors) in local high schools to encourage awareness of college programs among high school students
  • Organize community events such as volunteer appreciation days and “fun-raising” activities such as chili cook-offs, a Columbia Gorge mountain bike relay race, or other ideas for involvement
  • Establish liaisons with business and industry to identify workforce training needs and communicate these needs to college staff for future program development planning
  • Establish liaisons in every community of the Mid-Columbia Region in order to create a personal network for communication and college outreach
  • Assist the college mentoring coordinator by identifying opportunities in local high schools and communities
  • Support fundraising activities of CGCC Foundation by encouraging participation in the Founder’s Cup golf tournament, as well as other annual and on-going fundraising activities that support student scholarships, college programs, and facility development

These activities are only examples of ways you could be involved. Have another idea? Please contact our CGCC Foundation Office or your local association member.
